Benson Henderson Thinks He’s The Next GSP

Articles

Bendo has announced that he wants one more fight at 155, and then he wants to move up to 170. That one more fight at 155 obviously won’t be a title fight, so we’re not really sure what he’s waiting for. Going 2-2 in his last 4 fights, it’s not a huge surprise that Benson Henderson wants out of the Lightweight division with guys like Myles Jury (After another fight or two), Cowboy Cerrone, Khabib, Melendez and more standing between him and a title shot. Not to mention, Bendo is at least a year away from getting another crack at Pettis who is one of the least-active champions in the UFC.

So, rather than wait around and hope for the best, Bendo is going to make the move up to Welter where he’ll have to get past guys like Matt Brown, Carlos Condit, Tyron Woodley, Rory MacDonald and Robbie Lawler before getting a crack at the champ. Say what you want about his fighting style, but the guy is brave as hell for willingly putting himself inside the cage with some of those killers at 170.

Hiding from Pettis?

Anthony Pettis is like kryptonite for Henderson, but it’s not fair to say he’s hiding from him because 170 is no joke.

Henderson may have had some trouble with the weight cut, maybe 170 will be a much more natural weight for him as he gets on into the second or third stages of his career.

Say what you want about his fighting style, but Benson Henderson is hoping he has what it takes to lay and pray his way to the top of welterweight.
