Anderson Silva Leads UFC With 15 Drug Tests So Far in 2016

If you haven’t noticed by now, USADA isn’t playing. They’ve swooped in at the last minute to have numerous major fights pulled off cards due to positive drug tests, which is great, because if you’re going to clean up the sport you need to make some waves. It sucks as a fan when the fights you’ve been looking forward to don’t happen, but fighter safety is the top priority. There are still some examples where guys were on steroids but still ended up fighting, like Brock Lesnar. The system isn’t perfect, but it’s still new and they’ve got kinks to iron out.

There’s also the famous alleged cover-up of Vitor Belfort back in the day, where Jon Jones believed that the UFC knew Vitor was on steroids before their fight but still allowed it to take place.  We’ll never kn0w with certainty what happened, but what we do know is that we’re on the right direction now.

USADA isn’t afraid to go after big name fighters, even if it would mean the end of their careers. Anderson Silva has been tested more than anybody else in 2016, with a total of 15 random drug tests so far. Anderson only fought two times in 2016.

The next person on the list of most tested fighters in 2016 may surprise you.

It’s Miesha Tate, with 12 random drug tests.

  • The following fighters have been tested 11 times in 2016: Tyron Woodley, Eddie Alvarez, and Johnny Hendricks.
  • The following fighters have been tested 10 times in 2016: Dominick Cruz, Cain Velasquez, Nate Marquardt, and Stephen Thompson.

Yoel Romero isn’t on the list, one reddit user joked that it’s because he is under 24/7 surveillance from USADA.
