It’s been a crazy couple of months when it comes to performance enhancing drugs in the UFC. Middleweight Tim Kennedy makes an interesting point regarding the recent random tests that have taken place.
- Wanderlei Silva
- Chael Sonnen
- Vitor Belfort
- (And now Ali Bagautinov, too.)
That’s 4 random tests… 4 positive tests. Three of them are potential opponents for Tim Kennedy who has openly spoken out against PED use in the past, and he’s definitely not mincing his words this time around.
Kenendy is calling for random drug testing in his upcoming fight against Yoel Romero.
“They randomly test three dudes and all three fail,” Kennedy said in an interview with ESPN. “All in my weight class. All dudes I could potentially be fighting. I went from just being vocal about drug use, to saying to myself, ‘I have to make a stand about this.'”
Asking for random drug tests has nothing to do with Romero. It has to do with the current state of MMA. #PED #TRT #EPO #HGH #UFC

These “random” drug tests truly aren’t random. You are in a fight camp, you know you are going to be tested, and you agreed to the test.

There are rumors of a potential GSP return today. He’s going to be on the air to make a special announcement, so we’ll see what that ends up being. If GSP is to make a return, you can bet it will be on his own terms and one of those terms was improved drug-testing in order to clean up the sport. We’ll report on GSP’s announcement whatever it is.
