Ronda Rousey is a force of nature. She’s got the personality and the charisma to charm the planet, the skills to back it up, and the type of back-story that forces you to root for her in whatever she’s doing. Everyone knows she’s the top female fighter of all time, she’s a US Olympian, she’s won countless Judo tournaments, but here are some lesser-known facts about Ronda Rousey that will only act to endear her to you even more.

1. Her first time in the ER was for an unusual reason.

You might think that her first visit to the ER would be for one of her countless judo injuries, but it was actually because she was sticking Raisinette candies up her nose and they got stuck.

2. She used to be a moderator on a Pokemon forum.

Ronda absolutely adores the Pokemon games and she’s beaten all of them, and she would keep fools in line on a Pokemon message board when she was in her teens.

3. She couldn’t speak until she was 6 years old.

Ronda’s umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck at birth, which cut off oxygen to her brain and caused a slight learning disability which meant that she had difficulty with language and wasn’t able to speak until she was six years old.

4. Judo runs in her family.

This won’t be news to anyone who has been following Ronda’s career, but with her mainstream fame many people may not realize that she’s following in her mother’s footsteps. AnnMaria De Mars won a gold medal at the 1984 World Championships of Judo.
