One of the biggest misconception about sports is that the better man (or team) always wins. It’s just not true! Lots of factors can impact the outcome of a game, match or contest and not all of them will be under the control of the players.
It’s no different in MMA and, sometimes, the wrong person wins. Here are eight of the greatest examples of that.
Kevin Burns Beats Anthony “Rumble” Johnson with an Eye Poke
Probably the all-time worst refereeing in MMA history came when Steve Mazzagatti declared Kevin Burns the winner of a fight over Anthony “Rumble” Johnson when Rumble collapsed due to a deep, brutal eye poke. Mazzagatti’s reputation never recovered from this.
