Japan has a reputation of being a little looser with certain regulations when it comes to MMA, whether it’s allegations that steroid use was encouraged by Pride, or freakshow fights. Well, if someone ever said they couldn’t take it even further, Japan was like “Hold my beer.”
A 12 year old girl named is set to fight against the 24 year old Momoko Yamasaki, who has lost her last two fights but is looking to get back into the win column against a child half her age. The 12 year old is making her debut, and the 24 year old is 2-3 as an amateur.
It gets worse…
The 12 year old weights about 9 pounds less, so she’s giving up almost an entire weight-class in size, too. What the hell is going on?
On the plus side, the fighters will be hearing head gear, and strikes to the head are banned while the fight is on the ground, but still… you really have to wonder about this match making.
